Garth Brooks' collection, The Ultimate Hits, has moved up another level with the RIAA certifying it eight-times platinum. Each certification adds one million units sold so the hits set has surpassed eight million in sales.
Ultimate Hits has a long way to go to become Brooks' biggest album with his Double Live currently sitting at 21 times platinum. Other Brooks albums that have surpassed the Hits total include No Fences (17 million), Ropin' the Wind (14 million), The Hits (10 million), Garth Brooks (10 million) and Sevens (10 million).
Brooks is second only to the Beatles in total albums sold with 136 million to-date. The Beatles have 178 million while third place Elvis Presley is just 500,000 behind at 135.5 million.
No other veteran artist reached platinum status since the last time we looked at gold and platinum certifications in June; however, two KISS hits packages were certified gold for sales of 500,000 or more.
On the singles side, Enrique Iglesias goes three-times platinum with Bailando while Usher (I Don't Mind) and Alison Krauss (Whiskey Lullaby with Brad Paisley) each receiving double platinum.
