Meet Reverend Robb Greer, the “Renaissance Man” of Viva Las ...

Rev. Robb relaxes between wedding at the Doo Wop Diner

Reverend Robb, an eloquent and gracious wedding officiant with MANY surprising facets!

At Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, we like to think our ministers bring a touch of refined dignity to our traditional marriage ceremonies, demonstrating a level of joy and compassion appropriate to the occasion. Themed or Elvis weddings, however, generally leave the licensed minister out of the spotlight during the actual ceremony. For those weddings, Elvis, Merlin, Dracula, or any of a wide range of characters do the honors instead. When it comes to Reverend Robb, though, he’s more than happy to step up to the plate.

In more than 12 years marrying couples in Las Vegas, Robb has many stories to tell. While his traditional ceremonies are particularly insightful and touching, he’s had a few wacky episodes at the altar, too. For example, due to his resemblance to Patrick Stewart of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame, Rev. Robb has donned the uniform and married couples for space-themed Intergalactic Weddings. (And what a pro! Rev. Robb has actually super-glued his fingers together for these ceremonies, since he claims he’s physically unable to do the hand sign for “Live long and prosper.”) If called upon to do a Beach Party themed wedding, Robb tosses on a sun-streaked wig and says “dude” a lot during the vows. If you know him as well as we do, you’ll find this hilarious.

Reverend Robb has been a minister in Las Vegas for over 25 years and graduated with a degree in theology from Vanguard University. There, a professor once told him regarding marriage, “Don’t look for someone else to make you happy. That’s too much of a burden to put on anyone. You must first find happiness within yourself.” What important advice would Robb give to couples who are planning to marry? “Focus on being the right person, not on finding the right person.”

Asked what he finds the best part of being a Las Vegas wedding minister, Robb says, “I love the excitement, and I love being around people. Knowing the wedding business as well as I do, it’s really gratifying to be able to disarm the anxieties people are feeling right before the ceremony. I always tell them, ‘I’m never going to leave you guessing what to do next.’”

All in a day’s work, Rev. Robb may have also designed the bridal bouquet!

What’s his most memorable wedding? “There are so many! But I do remember a very nervous bride who sneezed just before placing the ring on her groom’s finger. She put her hand, with the ring still on her own finger, up to her nose to block the sneeze.” Robb continued to explain how he put her at ease after that awkward moment. He calmly said, “That should slip right on now!” Laughter ensued, and all nervousness was gone.

Most awkward blunder? “I mistakenly referred to a groom by the name of Steve, the groom from the previous ceremony. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Steve happened to be the name of the bride’s first husband.” Awkward!

Favorite ceremony to do? “Vow renewals. I love doing them. It is so significant and special when two people value their relationship so much that they marry all over again.”

Strangest request? “Well, once the rings were attached to a dog’s collar, and I had to bend down and take them off.”

Clearly, there are few dull moments in the life of a Las Vegas wedding minister. Still…

One day the chapel was frantically busy, and Reverend Robb was asked if he could help assemble boutonnieres for the next wedding. He did such a beautiful job…You know the story, if you do a job TOO well… Robb found himself arranging bouquets between weddings to pass the time, just because he enjoys it. Even though his arrangements are as beautiful and endearing as his vows, Reverend Robb’s first priority is officiating weddings, and putting couples at ease on the happiest day of their lives.
