Imitation, Elvis. | The Island

May 4th 2014. Elvis Presley Impersonators.

I decided to get up early and take a slow ride to Bridlington along an endless winding road. It was a perfect day. The clouds perfectly formed for a perfect day, sailing by in all of their wisdom. Those fluffy forms must have been in a good mood as they did not hinder the sun in anyway but skipped by with a good morning nod to the almighty ball of fire that now shone across seas of yellow Rapeseed as it swayed gently in the breeze.

The Spa.

There was a theatre production in town! Elvis fans from near and far were coming to see it. Elvis, no longer with us now, fortunately does not have to endure this, but at least he is never forgotten. Alas I was too early in the day. I had fantasies of seeing Brendan Fraser’s portrayal of Elvis in the recent film Pawn Shop Chronicles/Hustlers or further back, Val Kilmer in True Romance.

I was disappointed to say the least. So I trundled along down to the harbour and sat watching the infestations of seagulls as they ducked and dived like flying rats. But amongst this invasion and in the distance there was this little boat bobbing gently in the low tide. There all alone was this one Seagull sat on the edge of the colourful boat biding its time. I was impressed. It was the best impersonation of a duck I had ever seen. And so I catalogue this moment to history.Imitation
