Elvis Isn't Dead! Baz Luhrmann To Direct Elvis Presley Biopic!

Warner Bros. are looking to make an Elvis Presley biopic with Baz Luhrmann in negotiations to direct.

Baz Luhrmann is in negotiations to direct Warner Bros. Elvis Presley biopic written by Kelly Marcel (‘Fifty Shades of Grey’).

Warner Bros. may not have commented on the scoop just yet, but Marcel is hard at working bringing Elvis back to life. The hip-gyrating King of Rock and Roll will get his own full feature movie biopic, though there is no indication just yet of which period of Elvis Presley’s life will provide the subject material.

Warner Bros. executive Courtenay Valenti will oversee the project on behalf of the studio whilst Gail Berman and Tecumseh Productions will produce and Andrew Mittman of Whalerock Industries will executive produce. Warner have secured all rights to the musical components of Elvis Presley’s extensive catalogue for the movie.

Baz Luhrmann has been in negotiations to direct for a number of weeks now. Once the director is happy, it is expected that his wife, Oscar winner Catherine Martin, will join the project as costume designer.

With Luhrmann’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ bringing in a massive gross of $351 million worldwide, which is impressive figures for a literary project, it is no surprise that Warner Bros. want to get back in business with the director.

Baz Luhrmann was nominated for an Oscar for his flamboyant 2001 musical ‘Moulin Rouge’ and has a string of very successful films under his belt.

What do you think? Would you like to see a Baz Luhrmann ‘Elvis Presley’ biopic?
