Breakfast bowls are a fast and easy way to start your day with a nutritious meal that will stick to your ribs. I call this the Elvis Presley breakfast bowl because it uses banana and peanut butter. “The King” was fond of peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I think this breakfast would have been something he’d like to eat the next morning after a concert.
What’s in the bowl?
1/2 cup of quick oats
1 cup of water
1/2 banana
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 teaspoon flax seeds
1 tablespoon sliced almonds
1 tablespoon dried cranberries
Optional ingredients:
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
cinnamon
Preparation
Prep time is about 5 minutes.
Place oats and water in a microwave-safe bowl and nuke it for 90 seconds (time based on 1100W microwave). Use your spoon to slice up half the banana into the bowl (save it for later) and throw in the dry ingredients. Scoop in some peanut butter and stir. Eat that stuff up while it’s hot. You may want to knock off the rest of the banana while you’re chomping down.
