
Elton John received the Brits Icon award, which was presented to him in a concert at the London Palladium, London (England), Monday (09/02/2013) night local time. The awarding it also marks the singer’s return to the stage after undergoing an appendectomy.
The musician received an award from his friends, vocalist Rod Stewart, who describes himself as “the second best rock singers of all time.”
Elton says “flattered” by the Brits Icon award, which is intended for artists who have a “significant impact” in British culture. He also played a few songs, including “Your Song” and “Tiny Dancer”.
Students from the Royal Academy of Music, which is coached by Elton John, joined him and sang “Home Again” from his latest album, Diving Board. Stewart became a duet and colleagues attended the closing song, “Sad Songs (Say So Much)”.

He dedicated the award to his co-author, Bernie Taupin. “I would not be here without them,” he said. And, “Women’s Institute and you, the fans,” he added.
The 66-year-old man also said, “I think there are some people who deserve it more than me.”
Pop star Lulu, who guested on the show, told the BBC, “He is the only one, he’s very unique.” Lulu continued, “Only the Rolling Stones, Beatles, and Elvis (Presley) who is at the top (with him). So, very fit, he was awarded the icons should be number one.”
James Blunt, which is under the management singer Elton John, described it as, “The nicest guy I have ever met.” Blunt continued, “In terms of music, in terms of friendship, in humanity, he was a very special person and that’s not including the other talent, that is a remarkable songwriter and performer tough.”
