In contrast to the chart of Pvt. Bradley Manning of Wiki-Leaks infamy we can view a chart with a Sun to Chiron aspect that demonstrates fame of a happier kind. The extraordinarily talented Rita Moreno was recently featured on CBS Sunday Morning. Here is the link to the video.
Her chart shows a combo of Sun, Chiron, Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn in contrast to the Wiki-Leaker, who has complex planetary alignments of Sun, Chiron, Uranus and Saturn.
Talents? This gal won an Oscar for her role in “West Side Story,” the first of many awards that include a Grammy, an Emmy and a Tony award. Although she is most familiar as a Broadway musical star some may forget that she became a TV trailblazer when she starred with Morgan Freeman on “The Electric Company,” the 70’s PBS kid show.

The key to her lasting popularity as well as her talents might be the natal Sun quincunx Chiron (a Cinderella aspect) in her chart. This lady arrived from Puerto Rico at age 5 with suitcase in hand and built a career on sheer talent. Her Sun is also quincunx Pluto and trine Jupiter, so there are 4 planets lined up at matched degrees. Rita Moreno is a person (Sun) of great ambition and drive (Pluto), personal charm (Chiron) and generosity (Jupiter) so it is no surprise that during the 50’s when people of certain ethnic backgrounds were restricted from starring roles, she rose to the top.
If we look closely however we note that Saturn is part of the mix. It is also at a match degree, and is semi-sextile the Sun, trine Chiron and quincunx Jupiter. Like the Wiki-leaker Manning, Moreno experienced a public scandal when she attempted suicide in the 60’s after a turbulent relationship with Marlon Brando. Unlike Manning she went on to “do better” and despite a natal square between Venus and Uranus married in 1965, a marriage that lasted until the death of her spouse in 2010.
Although she had a long time relationship with Marlon Brando and allegedly hooked up with Elvis Presley, she ended up in a stable marriage. Rita Moreno’s awards were not for her relationships but for her acting and singing. She earned everything through her own merits which is not to say she didn’t have help getting there from powerful and influential friends.
