Journalism Camp Editorial Contest: Aliens Exist | The Viking Voyage

By Sam Camp, Sang Teit, Riley Osen

(Incoming WHS journalism students were split up into two groups, guys and girls, and charged with the task of convincing two judges of either the existence of nonexistence of aliens. This is the guys’ story.)

An alien is defined as “extraterrestrial being: a being from another planet or another part of the universe, or noncitizen resident of a country”, simply an alien is an outsider. First for this to happen you need life, and life cannot be sustained without water. As extensive research has shown water is present in outer space (Mars) outside of the Earth’s atmosphere. So the elements for a living organism are present. Now I know that where this water is found there were not aliens handing it to us in vacuumed sealed water bottles. But the Solar System is continuously expanding meaning there is an infinite amount of space, so an infinite amount of life sustaining planets to live. Now the word infinite was brought up and as found in the article released by NASA an infinite universe means there is an exact duplicate of me you and everything on earth, including earth, somewhere else in the universe. So another you found outside of this atmosphere that we live in is undoubtedly and outsider or break out your thesauruses (provide by Dictionary.com) and check synonym number one “alien”.

Writers Notes: An outsider is someone from outside and as seen in the first definition of alien “noncitizen resident of a country”. As we know in the USA there is a fight against illegal aliens from Mexico and many other countries. We were lucky enough to find someone whose family member is an “alien” we interviewed him but the only information we could use is the conformation his father is indeed an alien.
