Review on Django Unchained | whisa

Quentin Tarentino is already a great director (one of my favourite) he has created great films such as pulp fiction, kill bill and inglorious basterds.

Here’s a little summary on Django Unchained,

Former dentist, Dr. King Schultz, buys the freedom of a slave, Django, and trains him with the intent to make him his deputy bounty hunter. Instead, he is led to the site of Django’s wife who is under the hands of Calvin Candie, a ruthless plantation owner.

This film in my opinion is one of the greatest film and it is a must watch but there has been so many criticism against the film. Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx has called Spike Lee’s criticism of the film “irresponsible”.

Lee has had a public feud with director Quentin Tarantino, saying he objects to the film’s portrayal of slavery.”I can’t speak on it ’cause I’m not gonna see it,” Lee previously said. “All I’m going to say is that it’s disrespectful to my ancestors. That’s just me… I’m not speaking on behalf of anybody else.”

Foxx has since told The Guardian: “He didn’t like Whoopi Goldberg, he doesn’t like Tyler Perry, he doesn’t like anybody, I think he’s sort of run his course.

“I mean, I respect Spike, he’s a fantastic director. But he gets a little shady when he’s taking shots at his colleagues without looking at the work. To me, that’s irresponsible.”Elaborating on the race issue, he continued: “You can’t tell me that Eminem ain’t hot ’cause he’s white or that Elvis Presley isn’t a bad motherf**ker, or that Quentin Tarantino can’t do whatever he likes, ’cause damn straight he can.”
