Beatles' first record is no longer copyright | Robert Leach


All records first issued in 1962 are no longer copyright, so you can copy them, sell them and generally do what you like with them.


This is because copyright law currently protects recordings for 50 years.


It is planned to increase this to 70 years in 2014, so records issued between 1944 and 1962 will go back into copyright.


Records issued in 1962 includes the first Beatles’ single “Love Me Do” among many other enduring classics:
