Making Blog Posts a Blast | Techblaster.NET

I know how hard it is to come up with new blog post ideas. After you have written and rewritten the same old topics over and over again it feels like you have nothing new to say. Well, instead of regurgitating the same old thing, why not try a few new topics? Here are some blog post ideas that will open your eyes to new opportunities:

Topics to write a new blog

1. Crime - Did you know that Al Capone’s business card said he was a used furniture dealer? Crime is a big topic. There is always something new happening and always something old that is coming back around. People both fear and have a morbid interest in crime. Whether you talk about bank fraud, identity theft, or old gangsters, crime is one blog post topic that will definitely pay off.

2. Children – Did you know that the puppet characters Bert and Ernie from the kids’ show Sesame Street were named after Bert the cop and Ernie the taxi driver in Frank Capra’s classic Christmas movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”? Kids make a great blog post topic because everyone knows one. There are parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles and even godparents out there looking for information about kids. Toys and games, fun and discipline, sad tales and true stories all make for great blog posts. Kids have another plus because they are cute and a kid picture is worth more than a thousand words!

3. Death – Did you know that a dragonfly has a lifespan of one to six months? Death is something we all must face. You know the old saying: nothing is certain but death and taxes. We all must face the death of a friend or loved one and eventually even face our own mortality. It may seem like a grim topic, but death makes for good reading.

4. Organization – Did you know that a goldfish has a memory span of three seconds? We all have trouble keeping track of what we are doing from moment to moment and that is only made worse when we are disorganized. That is probably one of the reasons why organization tops do so well as blog post topics. At home or at the office, with kids or traveling, organization is key. Even your blog can be more organized and easier for people to use, so there is never any shortage of subtopics when it comes to organization.

5. Illness – Did you know it is impossible to sneeze with your eyes open? Getting sick is no laughing matter. From cancer to colds, people want to know what they can do to feel better fast. If you have a personal story of recovery, a health remedies you long to share, or even your own struggles with your health, then make a blog post out of it. With frequent updates and great advice, this can become a whole series of posts that will have people coming back to read more.

6. Relationships – Did you know that the giant squid has the largest eyes in the world? Another saying that you probably know is that a person’s eyes are the windows into their soul. Relationships, romance, love and marriage are all great topics for blog posts. Whether you are single and dating or married and happy with your partner, you have a story or two to share. Maybe you met online and you can talk about online dating. Or maybe you have not met your special someone yet and you can talk about your search, what turns you off, what you are looking for in a mate, and why you have chosen not to marry yet. Maybe you are even divorced and can offer advice to the unhappily married.

7. Politics – Did you know that in England the Speaker of the House is not allowed to speak? Government is a strange thing. Everyone wants to talk about it but very few do anything about it. Especially in an election year, politics are a hot topic. They can be controversial, however, which can work for or against you. If you want to stay out of the hot seat then stay on the fence, otherwise be prepared for some flack to accompany all your new readers.

8. Inventions – Did you know that the microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket? Not all inventions have such an interesting back story, but there are inventions that are being created today that are awesome. You can feature things like the newest technological gadget or an umbrella lit by raindrops. The weirder the better!

9. Sleep – Did you know the average person falls asleep in seven minutes? Sleep is an essential part of our live and takes up a big chunk of our day. Unfortunately most of us do not get the sleep that we need. Tips on how to stay rested, how to function on less sleep, and how to get more sleep are always needed. You can even talk about beds, pillows, and soothing music if you would like. The possibilities are endless.

10. Sports – Did you know that there are 336 dimples on a regulation golf ball? The field of sports casts a wide net. From fishing to tennis to golf and football to baseball and basketball and even running, sports cover a multitude of topics. If you have played a sport in the past, play one now, watch one, or even coach one then you are qualified to write about them. Sports fans are fanatical, so be assured you will get a lot of traffic for those posts.

11. Gross – Did you know that the average person eats eight spiders in their lifetime at night? That is disgusting, but it is just the sort of blog post title that will have people visiting your blog in droves. The weirder and more objectionable the topic, the more people will stop long enough to read about it.

12. Critters – Speaking of gross, did you know that a cockroach can live nine days without its head before it starves to death? Ew! Killing the creepy crawlies is a great topic to write on though. From herbal skin creams to repel mosquitoes to planting flowers that resist beetles, there are organic ways to do almost anything. On the other hand, there are also those who love bugs and want to attract them to the garden. Ladybugs and butterflies are our friends, and flowers that bring them in make for great blog post topics. Even deer and squirrels get in on the action. Some people love them and some hate the way they eat everything, so you have two sides to every topic.

13. Ethnicities – Did you know that a polar bear’s skin is black? The bear’s fur is not white but actually clear to soak up more of the sun’s rays. Race relations, ethnic battles, and equality are controversial topics which make them great for bloggers who want to get in new readers. There is always some new news you can talk about, so get cracking!

14. Celebrities – Did you know that famous singer Elvis Presley had a twin brother named Aaron? He died at birth. That is why Elvis’ middle name was spelled Aron, in honor of his brother. It is also misspelled on his tombstone. Celebrities make for great blog post topics. Their kids, their clothes, their scandals and their marriages are all hot topics. People flock to hear the latest gossip about their favorite celeb, even one that is long dead.

These are just a few ideas for new blog post topics. Make your writing fun again and have a blast playing around with these fun, interesting ideas. Now go write!
