Justin Bieber is just doing it. Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan is just doing it. Even Conan O’Brien is just doing it.
They’re just dancing, and you can as well as Just Dance 4 has hit shelves for Nintendo’s Wii, Sony’s PlayStation Move, and Microsoft’s XBox with Kinect. It will also be within the launch window for the Wii U.
Ubisoft’s “Just Dance†series have already outsold other music and rhythm games several times over, with Just Dance 3 ranking in the top ten across all genres. Now, with the public exposure Just Dance 4 has received, the question is if it will deliver or not.
The track list alone seems to answer that question with a hearty yes, with over 40 tracks on the game upon release. And for those who fear that it might be all teeny-bopper bubble gum Carly Rae Jepsen “Call Me Maybe†stuff, fear not: the track lists include timeless hits like Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock†and Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,†’80s party songs such as “Rock Lobster†by the B-52s and “Never Gonna Give You Up†by Rick Astley, unique one-hit wonders like Blu Cantrell’s “Hit ‘Em Up Style†and even Las Ketchup’s “Asereje (The Ketchup Song),†and of course, plenty of today’s hits from Rihanna, Selena Gomez & The Scene, Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5, and yes, Carly Rae Jepsen.
The game will also offer an expanded “Just Sweat†mode, offering more complex workout sessions and a calorie counter, and a “Battle Mode,†where you and another player can go head-to-head in a six-round dance off, where the AI will change things up depending on who’s winning.
Dance games may have been a punchline to a joke when they first came out, but they’re here to say and they’re a big-buck industry, so if you haven’t played one yet, Just Dance 4 could be “The Time of Your Life.†So if you’ve got “Some Catchin’ Up to Do,†get “On the Floor†and show off your “Moves Like Jagger†with the latest from Ubisoft.
