(1888PressRelease) Labor Day weekend will be filled with activities to celebrate the life of the King and commemorate the 35th anniversary of his death at the fourth annual New England Elvis Festival, August 31-September 2 at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester, N.H.
Manchester-Nashua, NH – Elvis fans gathering at the fourth annual New England Elvis Festival, August 31-September 2 at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester, N.H., will be going “back to the beginning” during Saturday night’s Las Vegas-style show, starring top tribute artists Cody Slaughter and Rick Huntress along with other performers.
Slaughter was named the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA) World Champion for 2011. As the youngest winner, his tribute show is based on the early years of Elvis’ music, moves and charisma. Slaughter also received the “2011 Heart of the King Horizon Award,” which recognized him as the best new tribute artist.
Rick Huntress, 2011 New England Elvis Festival Champion, will also entertain fans during Saturday night’s big show. Huntress, who began practicing as a child, has been an Elvis Tribute Artist since 1991. His flawless performance has made him a very popular ETA throughout the Northeast. Huntress is a finalist for the 2012 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist World Champion, to be held later this month in Memphis.
“Our ‘Back to the Beginning’ Show will take the Festival’s guests to the earliest days of Elvis’ initial success, and Cody and Rick are sure to give performances that will make everyone feel young again,” said Jason Sherry, president of Sherry Management, LLC, and festival director. “We’re especially happy to have Cody with us, as this will be his only performance in New England during 2012, so it’s an opportunity New England Elvis fans shouldn’t miss.”
Joining Slaughter and Huntress on stage will be Irv Cass, who is highly regarded, both within the U.S. and internationally, as one of the most professional Masters of Ceremonies. He is also an Elvis and Tom Jones tribute artist. The Change of Habit, one of the top tribute touring bands, will recreate the genuine music of the 1950s that helped Elvis to become the “Greatest Entertainer of All Time.”
Another major highlight of the fourth annual New England Elvis Festival is the Elvis Tribute Contest, where more than 20 tribute artists will compete for $5,250 in cash prizes. The winner will represent the Festival at the 2013 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist World Championship, which is produced by Elvis Presley Enterprises and will be held next summer.
The entire Labor Day weekend will be filled with many activities to celebrate the life of the King and commemorate the 35th anniversary of his death. Much of Friday’s schedule is the preliminary rounds of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, followed at 10:30 p.m. by the free After Hours Party in the Radisson Hotel’s JD’s Tavern.
After Saturday night’s big show, Festival attendees will party into the wee hours of Sunday morning at the 70s-themed “Disco Fever” After-Hours Event. Sunday morning features the Elvis Gospel Music Contest, where Elvis Tribute Artists will compete for the separate Elvis Gospel Music Trophy. The final round of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will occur during the afternoon hours, with a final Wrap Party Sunday evening.
“I encourage all Elvis fans to purchase their tickets soon, since we anticipate a big crowd,” added Sherry. “Our weekend ticket packages start as low as $69, which include admission to Saturday’s night show with Cody Slaughter and Rick Huntress. Festival goers will also qualify for discounted accommodations at the Radisson.”
