Will Yoda’s Hologram Be The Fourth Judge This Season?
If ITV get their way then this year’s X Factor could see finalists performing with holograms, as producers plan to have them duet with some of the music’s biggest deceased stars. Seems like the whole hologram thing is going to kick off.
X Factor will be taking their cue from the infamous duet performance between Celine Dion and Elvis Presley on American Idol back in 2007 and, more recently, the Tupac hologram that performed at the Coachella festival.
The production company behind X Factor are investigationg the possibility of using the hologram as a way of “creating a splash” to boost ratings of a show whose format may be on the decline. A source said:

“The X Factor has to keep getting better so they are looking at holograms as a way of creating a splash.Imagine Elvis or Amy Winehouse at the grand final. It would be incredible TV and an amazing experience for contestants. The technology’s there and has been used on several big stages.”
Explaining that Celine Dion also uses a hologram of Stevie Wonder at her shows (Really? Stevie’s still alive man!), the source added:

“The X Factor final is perfect for something like this. It nearly happened last year after show boss Richard Holloway saw the Stevie Wonder hologram at Celine Dion.”
If it happens, I’m guessing we’re going to be seeing this used in a lot of shows, maybe even seeing some dead actors being brought back in to star in some of ITV’s programmes. Maybe Marlon Brando will pop up in Coronation Street? Let’s wait and see.
