Elvis Presley and Tom Jones hated John Lennon | Headline News

Tom Jones and Elvis Presley had a bromance unlike any other. They met each other in Hawaii, and were inseparable since. According to Chris Hutchins, Presley had never been seen so happy in the company of another man. And it should be noted that becoming friends with Presley wasn’t easy; his temper was just as great as his talent. In fact, he once threatened to come after his ex-wife’s boyfriend, Mike Stone, with an M16 rifle and had to be sedated before he completely lost control.

Presley flew into a similar rage whenever John Lennon’s name was mentioned. Presley was against Lennon’s anti-war feelings, and the way he expressed them every chance he got. He allied himself with the FBI director Edgar Hoover and encouraged him to have Lennon thrown out of the USA.

Presley told Jones one night that that “[Lennon] should’ve been kicked out a long time ago. Jones replied; “He made some smart remark at a TV studios in England, where we were appearing on the show Thank Your Lucky Stars. I wanted to take him outside and see what sort of hiding his intellect would stand.” Good thing they didn’t, or else they’d both be doing the “jailhouse rock.”
