151. Elvis Week | 365 Days of Music in Music City

August 11, 2012 · 10:22 am

2012 is the 35th anniversary of the death of The King – Mr. Elvis Aaron Presley. Elvis spent a LOT of time in Nashville. He recorded more than half of his entire catalogue here, including “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Are You Lonesome Tonight?,” and “How Great Thou Art”. So, Nashville celebrates the man during Elvis Week, August 10-18, 2012. There are special events going on throughout the week around town, and special places with ties to Elvis are offering tours and such. You could take an Elvis-themed tour of Nashville and hit up the Ryman where Elvis made his 1st & only appearance on the Grand Ole Opry, tour RCA Studio B where he recorded so many of his songs (the piano he played is still there!), explore the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and see his Cadillac and grand piano, and walk the Music City Walk of Fame to see his sidewalk Star. Whether you believe that Elvis Presley is alive and well on this Earth or not, his music and mark are definitely here in Music City. Now, curl that lip and say thank you.
