Five pets that Elvis owned

Who knew Elvis Presley would have been such an animal lover. Four (or two) legged creatures roamed Graceland freely under the King's reign as rock and roll music legend. Below are five animals that Elvis owned as pets. We wouldn't be surprised if there were more, either.

1. Dogs – The King of Rock and Roll didn't only sing about hound dogs, he owned a few of them throughout the years, too. When he was serving in the army stationed in Germany, he had a poodle named "Champagne". Not only did he keep dogs of his own, but he loved giving pups to the women he loved. He gave his mother a dog named "Sweet Pea", a poodle named "Honey" to his wife Priscilla and a Maltese by the name of "Foxhugh" to one of his later girlfriends, Linda Thompson.

2. Horses – The first horse Elvis had at Graceland was named Domino, which he bought for Priscilla. After Domino, he bought Rising Sun for himself. After Rising Sun passed away, he found a distant relative of the horse and named him Sun's Reflection. All of his horses were stabled in a barn called the House of the Rising Sun. Other horses at Graceland included Colonel Midnight, Lady, Golden Sun, Scout, Flaming Star, Sheba, Thundercloud, El Poco, Beauty, Traveler, Bear, Keno, Buckshot, Sundown, Star Trek, and Big Red. He practically had an army over the years.

3. Monkey – Trainer Bill Killebrew featured Scatter and Chatter, two monkeys, on a children's TV show back in the early 60's. He approached Elvis about buying the chimp, and the King eventually agreed. The monkey was fresh, mischievous and sort of a troublemaker. Hardly anyone else shared Elvis's love for the primate who liked to wear clothes, drink whisky and tear up rooms. He had a habit of pulling up women's dresses. Scatter eventually passed away from either alcohol-related lever problems, or was poisoned by a maid he had bitten. Either story is pretty amusing.

4. Peacock – Elvis reportedly had a peacock in his Graceland pet collection, but the bird started damaging cars and was eventually given away. Myna birds also roamed the grounds, which were taught to speak. The birds could cackle out "Elvis isn't here right now", "Elvis is in a meeting", "Elvis can't come to the phone", "Elvis is asleep", "Sorry, Elvis is busy", and our favorite "Elvis, Go to hell."

5. Pigs and Chickens – When Elvis and his family moved to Graceland mansion, his barns were full of chickens and pigs. He kept a hen house for a supply of fresh eggs, and at one point had a few goats and turkeys. A few donkeys lived there temporarily in his drained swimming pool until work was finished to fence in the property and let the animals wander free.
