On the Series Premiere of "Barter Kings" (Tue., 9 p.m. ET on A&E) Steve McHugh used bartering to trade up from some Elvis Presley gold records worth $250 to a boat.
How did he do it? First he traded the Elvis goodies for a mini dirt bike worth $1,200. The bike was exchanged for a bank safe ($3,000), which was in turn swapped for a 1970 Monte Carlo ($4,500) and then a custom chopper ($6,000).
The final stage was to persuade a guy named Chad to swap his boat worth $8,000 for the chopper. Chad was a tough nut to crack, but after using some of his "trading pyschology" McHugh talked him into it. Deal done.
Follow the "Barter Kings" each Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on A&E.
