After Tupac, What's in Store Next for Hologram Technology?
Jun 11th 2012, 20:01

Everyone was blown away by the hologram technology at this year"s Coachella Music Festival a few months back in California. Really, viewers actually said they felt like they were seeing Tupac rise from the grave and give a spectacular show. It was definitely one for the books.

Now, it looks like others in the music biz are trying to catch up with the new technology by hopping on the hologram bandwagon. You may have heard rumors of other artists experimenting with it — it's been circulated that Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg will tour with hologram Tupac or that even Usher will be accompanied by hologram backup dancers. While it's hard to decipher which hologram concerts are just rumors and which are true, we have heard of two definite hologram shows that will blow you away.

Elvis Presley conspirators claiming he is still alive may have been wrong, but now at least they can see him perform one more time. He, along with Marilyn Monroe, is coming back to life… technically. The company responsible for the Tupac hologram, Digital Domain Media Group, got the a-OK from Elvis Presley Enterprises president and CEO, Jack Soden, to use the posthumous life-sized and dimensioned image. Digital Domain announced that it will be creating a Presley hologram for shows, film, TV and other worldwide projects and appearances. Creepy, but kind of cool, huh?

Despite his 1977 death, Elvis Presley still reigns in history as the king of rock and roll, and his fans are highly anticipating his holographic comeback — and are hoping it won't be a flop.

In addition, the The Hollywood Reporter reported earlier this week that a Monroe show was in the making, entitled "Virtual Marilyn Live – A Musical Celebration of the Birth of the Pop Icon." Well, we hope that ridiculous title changes, but not the show. Marilyn Monroe has indeed been an icon, inspiring girls, fashion and lifestyles for years.

If you could see any resurrected celeb as a hologram, who would it be?
